Project 1: Hello World

Due: Monday, September 3rd

Specification

Write a simple app that shows an image of your choice and some text in a label. Your app should also define a local variable and print a message that includes the value of an variable to the console (LogCat for Android). The variable should be an int, float, or double variable that is included in a longer string message. Make sure that you know how and where to see console messages, since they are an important debugging tool.

The main objective of this project is for you to set up the development tools you need and familiarize yourself with the programming environment that you'll be using (Xcode or Android Studio).

ANDROID NOTES:
• Use string concatenation to include the value of an int, float, or double local variable in the log message.
• Use Log.i with a tag of CS3680 to print your message. See Chapter 3 of Android BNRG for more information about using Log and LogCat. Do not use System.out.print to print the message.

iOS NOTES:
• Use string interpolation to include the value of an int, float, or double local variable in the console message.
• Make sure you copy your image file into the project.

Turn in

Please put your initials in your app name and package.

Turn in everything that's necessary to compile and run your project. Put your project directory, including source files, resources, and your project file (for Xcode) in a zip file. Turn in your zip file on Canvas.
